Eastern Africa

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

By March 8, 2021 No Comments

As the world celebrates women today, Shalom-SCCRR acknowledges the conflict transformation and peacebuilding contribution of women living in areas of entrenched conflict in eastern Africa. The need for more women participation and engagement cannot be overemphasized. Since the foundation of Shalom-SCCRR the percentage of women involvement in its trainings has risen from 2% to 40%, and increasing.

As an organization, we will continue working with vulnerable and marginalized women from conflict environments through different humanitarian-peace-development interventions, leading towards reconciled societies.

The inclusion of women in decision making and peacebuilding, empowerment and education, in ending the widespread marginalization where we work remains a priority focus. More than ever there is a need for social care institutes addressing violence against women and children, a process Shalom-SCCRR intends to engage with more and more.

As the global community reconstructs from the Covid-19 pandemic Shalom-SCCRR continues to support and work with communities so as to transform their lives to peace, health and prosperity.

Indeed in line with this year’s theme (Choose to Challenge), despite the challenge of conflict, positive peace is possible.

May women be blessed by God’s Spirit all around the world.
