In line with this year’s theme, ‘Accelerate Action,’ Shalom-SCCRR has continuously involved more women in Peacebuilding and Development through our Women Empowerment Programs, ever respecting the dignity of life. Shalom Empowerment Center (SEC) empowers women from 14 Urban Informal Settlements/Slums, as well as in marginalized conflict regions in the semi-arid terrains where Kenya interfaces with Ethiopia, South Sudan and Uganda. SEC Concept Document
Since Shalom-SCCRR’s inception, more than 10,000 women have directly benefitted from its empowerment programs. In the past year: 2,580 Women from Urban Informal Settlements (Slums) trained in Conflict Transformation skills and Peacebuilding Techniques addressing Violence against Women and Children; & 2,232 Women experiencing acute violence living in Slums, supported with Holistic Livelihood Resilience Capacity through 98 Training Workshops. (Shalom-SCCRR 2024 Results).
Shalom-SCCRR engaged women are: aware of their rights to dignity, safety and security; active negotiators and mediators in peace processes; involved in social, economic, cultural and political development within their communities; and are taking better care of their families.
May WOMEN be Blessed by God’s Spirit all around the world.
Happy International WOMEN’s Day to you ALL.
